More teasers! Thanks! Smiley

And it was in such contemplation, on leaving Broken Tooth, that I saw Susannah for the first time. She stood on the island cliff in the bay, her hair unfurled, long locks tossed by the wind. With a pale cloak and gown, she seemed made of the mist.

Leaning over the gunwale, I stared at her—I wondered earnestly if this was a siren. If she would open her mouth and sing. If she would draw our ship into the rocks beneath her feet.

Instead, she waved.

""Hey, are you alright?" I hear a silky smooth male voice say. I can feel his hands roaming my body, checking my vital signs, but I can't say anything. My eyes won't open; it feels like my whole body is numb. The voice mumbles to himself, "He's still alive, thank God." and the reverence behind the last part of that statement shocks me a little. "Well, this'll be quite the job. Haven't had to do something like this in a long time. I hope it works; he can't leave from this world yet." His hand strokes my cheek and the warmth from it seems to breathe life back into my numb body. But quick as it came, the hand leaves, my body still pretty numb. I can feel my eyes moving a bit and open very slightly; the man helping me is young, his shaggy blond hair hanging in front of his eyes as he ... prays? Why is he praying? Shouldn't he be getting help, and taking me to the hospital? I can't lay here forever. It's a miracle, I'm sure, that I'm even somewhat conscious now. But as my thoughts wonder why the man isn't doing more for me, a tingle spreads through my body and causes my eyes to close again. It feels good and somehow seems to be awakening my body. My toes twitch from inside my sneakers, my breathing becomes regular again, and my eyelids flutter, opening to see the man still praying. Once my eyes focus, I see that the guy is REALLY cute and actually seems to be about my age. I could tell he was young before, but a teenager? That just boggled my mind.

As feeling came back to my body, I slowly sat up, wincing a little at the pain. But... how could I even sit up at all? Those jackasses pummeled me pretty damn hard; I should've been in a hospital bed for at least a few days recovering.

The guy noticed my movement and looked up, his hand (the same one that touched my cheek?) quickly sweeping aside his hair from his eyes, which looked extremely surprised. "What are you doing up already?!" he demanded from me. "It shouldn't work that quickly."

"Huh? What are you talking about?"

He had moved on to somewhat cursing "Darn darn darn. I have to go." He got up and started to quickly walk away.

"But wait! Who are you? I want to thank you!" I attempted to stand up to go after him, but I still had enough pain to keep me from moving too quickly and I ended up falling back down to the ground.

I lay back down on the cool hard ground, wondering what the hell had just happened."

Ooh good teasers! I'm glad I finally have a chance to sit down and start reading them. They're my favorite part of Grapemo.
