RATS

After spending an afternoon scrubbing grit and mildew out that whole freezer (so I'd have some place to stash my WW dinners), I plugged it in and discovered...

It's totally dead.

Three hours of my life I'll never get back.

My fridge is also on its very last leg. That, however, I'm almost happy about. It's a side-by-side and I've HATED it for the whole 22 years I've had it. Skinny little freezer, skinny little fridge, with neither side good for anything. DO NOT EVER, EVER BUY A STUPID SIDE-BY-SIDE! It's the dumbest thing I ever bought besides this basement-less house. Forget throwing a pizza box or a sheet cake inside. Forget having adequate space to even stash a significant amount of leftovers. Forget freezing a TURKEY.

Now that  it's leaking from the bottom and freezing my lettuce, I guess it's time for a shopping trip. Lovely. Let me run out to my backyard and grab some bills off a branch. BRB.

Go get one of those new fridges that has a TV and the Internet on it.

Just what I need--MORE excuses to approach the fridge.

I can fit all kinds of things in my side-by-side, including plenty of pizza boxes. Those ones with the drawer freezers in the bottom look really cool though. Maybe you can find one that smacks your fingers if you reach for ice cream but makes approving noises when you go for the ever delicious carrot sticks.

You know if it weren't for bad luck, I don't think you'd have any luck at all! :p

They have made side-by-side fridges bigger now. Take a look see! :)

How can they make them bigger without making them wider? and I can't go any wider than what I have now.

HUGS!

We have a side by side too and it is USELESS. We can deal with the fridge but the freezer is pathetic. I can't believe we cannot have frozen pizza. Argh. But I think we'll be stuck with this baby forever.

Really sorry to hear about the freezer. Do you think it can be repaired?

I think it's too old to be bothered with, and way too big anyway. I'd like something smaller and more efficient. It's not like I kept it crammed, right? :)

I actually love my side by side but then we don't keep a lot of frozen food. And we have a working fridge in the garage for when we are entertaining and need a place for bigger pans.

We had a bottom drawer freezer and when it was full I used to have to brace myself against the counter to open it. Way too heavy for me.

Sorry about the fridge! I keep my fingers crossed that mine won't die on me, it's old. I dont like the up and down kind because it is harder to close the freezer drawer if it is full. Happy fridge shopping to you!

I looked at one yesterday with a freezer at the bottom that opened like a door. You'd have to be double jointed!

Wow. That would be tough to use.

My family has a side-by-side fridge, but maybe it's a big side-by-side? I dunno, I just know that my mom prefers this kind, and we've never had the type of problems you listed. Pizza boxes fit just fine!

Sucks how your freezer and fridge pretty much conked out at the same time, though. Objects like to die in pairs, apparently...
