Quote of the Day: JANE YOLEN

Happy Birthday to Jane Yolen--a brilliant writer and an inspiration to us all.

"Exercise the writing muscle every day, even if it is only a letter, notes, a title list, a character sketch, a journal entry. Writers are like dancers, like athletes. Without that exercise, the muscles seize up."
Jane Yolen

Always been one of my favorite quotes from Jane. Too bad I don't follow it. My muscles are so seized up that I don't know if they can ever be unknotted again.

Why don't I come by and jump up and down on your limbs? :)

Why don't you? :)

Catch me if you can. It's much warmer here in CA anyway.

(PS - what is that thing called "first comment" that showed up next to reply here?)

I adore Jane Yolen. It amazes me that she still gets rejections! She's like the queen of YA writing! Plus her dinosaur books are amazing and Lily loved those books. I love her.

Why is that wow? I love a good princess book. Especially now-a-days that they have nice strong female characters who get to rescue instead of being rescued, often times in skirts a heels, totally showing up the boys. And dragon books where they aren't always the enemy. But I also have books like yours and ones that Kell points out to me. Oh, and I still have a ton of books from when I was a kid. I've even sought out books I remember but don't have anymore like "Mandy" by Julie Andrew Edwards. When I have a kid, they will be ALL set. I even have the majority of the required reads through high school. LOL!!! (Ok, I have a freakin' lot of books. But I blame my parents they were all encouraging and supportive in my reading habits!!)

And yeah, I finally moved another small bookcase into my living room. It has 6 little 'pods'. 4 of which are full of my TBR pile and 2 which are full of my romance (from ages ago!). Then I moved out a 2nd small bookcase for my movies and it's already full. I am goign to need a GIANT library when I have a house.

I am goign to need a GIANT library when I have a house.

That's my dream, too--one room with nothing but wall to wall books. :) :)

I'm going to need vaulted ceilings though... and one of those awesome ladders that moves around on wheels. :)

Yeah!

And a wet bar and recliner!

(lol, first I wrote "wet back")

Well, you'd need one of those to man the wet bar... much cheaper labor. ;)

I want a chaise lounge and a trolley for my tea. :)

Oh boy! ;) Can I move in when you get the house of your dreams? :) We can add my books to library:)

We'll start a commune in a giant mansion with a library that takes over 2/3's of the house and all our rooms are the size of walk-in closets... I'll just sleep on a chaise lounge in the library. :)
