Random Tuesday

Reminder: GRAPEMO begins next Tuesday. There's still plenty of time to sign up. :)

Work news: Units combined again, new psychiatrist on board, and oh-what-fun-it-is-to-ride...

Book news: SAY THE WORD will be out in paperback on Feb 15th! I do love the subtles changes in the new cover:

Writing news: None. Waiting for revisions. Waiting for a title. Regardless of whether I use Grapemo for my revisions or for my current wip, I really need the month of February to Do Something besides play on Writers Net and watch Lifetime movies.

Eli news: Poor baby started limping a couple weeks ago. The vet can't tell if it's a tendon injury or if there is possibly something wrong with his hip, so he's scheduled for a full set of xrays under sedation tomorrow morning. In the meantime, pain pills and rest which means no running around. He's bored out of his skull and in my face every minute. Kind of like kids on snow days. :)

Other news: I dropped 5 pounds. *happy dancing*

Excellent on losing the weight. Sorry about Eli! that is horrible. I'm thinking of my story and I've been doing research on ballet and dancers and dancing. I hope to have something for Feb 1.

You WILL have something, chickie. Think positive!

ooh, I like the revised cover! It does have a little more "pop" to it. Congrats on the poundage melting! Yay! And so sorry for poor little Eli. Hope it's not something seriously wrong.

Oh God, me too. Poor guy's been through the mill.

I want to sign up, but I'm not sure I'm ready for any goals yet. I might have to settle for something like, keeping ten queries in circulation.

I wonder how many queries it's appropriate to have out at one time?

Truthfully, I used t shoot out 10 or 15 and then not make a move this I got all the rejections back heard back from about 80%.

Does this mean you are not...writing...anything right now?

That sounds like my MO so far. I sent out 12, and have received four no's. (One had been in spam for a couple of weeks.)

And no, I'm not writing, exactly. Not exactly planning. Definitely not plotting. More like...stewing? maybe. I have notes and notecards out, and when an idea comes, I write it down. I have a skeleton, but not enough meat on the bones for it to walk and talk yet. The good stuff always comes while I'm not thinking about it. I for real do not know how to make a goal of "doing other things til the good stuff comes." It sounds too much like wussified "waiting for inspiration." :P

I can't remember if you were planning a sequel or not...
Jan. 25th, 2011 05:26 pm (UTC)
I was at one time, but at this moment...no. There's no point in writing a sequel if nobody wants the first book.
Jan. 25th, 2011 05:28 pm (UTC)
I hear you. I'm already wondering what's the point of writing a sequel if the first one tanks.
Jan. 25th, 2011 05:41 pm (UTC)
They have to get on the stick and publish it before it can tank...or even not!

People who do buy the first one might buy a sequel in e-format or etc., but they have to have that first exposure (I think.)

Ooh, SAY THE WORD is being released in paperback? Awesome! I might finally be able to find a copy at a bookstore now! (I've been dying to read it ever since devouring BEFORE, AFTER, AND SOMEBODY IN BETWEEN!)

I hope you like it!!!!

I kind of prefer paperbacks myself, much easier to lug around. :)
