Eli's (latest) Boo-Boo

Photobucket

It's blurry, but look at his right eyebrow. It's bald, right? Two days ago he came home from camp with a bump and what looked like an abrasion. He plays rough, and is somewhat clumsy, so it wouldn't surprise me to learn he'd bashed into something. Beth cleaned it with peroxide. Yesterday it looked better. Then, today, he woke up with his eye half-closed.

So back to the vet for the 330th time this year. A bee sting? A spider bite? The vet's not sure, but it's likely something chomped down on his eyebrow, and probably not another dog. The vet said he'll probably lose more hair, but it'll grow back.

Oh, and to apply warm compresses. Yeah, THAT was fun.

Poor Eli! And poor you. Yikes on the $$$

We want to get a second dog but since Cassie also costs us lots of $ I'm afraid of what will happen if we end up with another with like her.

I keep saying the same thing! We'll have the yard fenced in soon, and I KNOW he'd love a playmate (I was tempted to kidnap a little Bichon today) but what if I end up with another one like him?

He is so going to LOVE that yard! And so will you.

I keep telling myself when the right dog comes along, I'll know it. I'd really like a cuddler dog because Cassie is so aloof. But she's going to have to pick it out.

Right now she is sprawled in the hallway groaned and moaning because I haven't made her dinner.

Adding a second dog is scary to me because of our awful experience with the shelter dog, and the behavior didn't even show up until the fifth day. :( If you do add one, go for a female smaller than Eli, that way their dominance is sort of worked out by nature at the very beginning...or so I read. Mine are the dogs that get on other dogs' nerves, lol.

Glad to hear Eli is ok. He is like the doggy version of the Sandra Bullock character on the George Lopez show, Accident Amy!

It's scary to me, too. I won't actively look for one. But ya never know. :)
